Hon.Markus Useni

The chairmanship aspirant of Jos East local government council, Hon.Markus Useni vow has promised to continue changing the narrative of governance at the grassroot if giving the opportunity come 9th October, 2024.

Useni, expressed optimism that having served as Transition Implementation Committee chairman of the council for almost a year he done many projects.

The aspirant who spoke to newsmen at the PDP Secretariat in Jos,Monday, said the expectations are high but if the electorates avail him the opportunity he will do his best.

He acknowledged autonomy for local governments is one of the key reasons why he is running for this position.

"Jos East is one of the most underdeveloped local governments in Plateau State. I am committed to changing this narrative. The level of education and technological understanding in our area is low. We need to introduce modern technologies and improve education because we are in a digital world now.

"For example, in my district, Shere, we have only one public school. We need to engage with the state government to create a synergy between local and state governments to complement each other's efforts."

The chairmanship aspirant further stated that in agriculture, despite Jos East producing some of the best vegetables globally, we don't have any market facilities.

"Once elected, I plan to establish markets to support the agricultural sector, ensuring that local produce can reach a broader audience and boost the local economy."

Our correspondent gathered that PDP had slated 2nd August for counselor ship primaries as that of chairmanship to be hold 5th August, 2024, respectively.

Recall the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) have earlier fixed 9th October 2024 as the official date for the conduct of chairmanship and counselors elections across the 17 local government councils.
