... Nigerians can occupy the streets until the right thing is done- PSJ

Former Minister of Youth and Sports development, Solomon Dalung, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to address the nation and provide answers to the demands of protesting Nigerians.

Dalung made the plea on Friday while addressing protesters at the old airport roundabout in Jos, the Plateau state capital as planned nationwide protest on end bad governance enter day two.

According to Dalung, the president's silence on the matter is fueling the protests and creating more tension.

"If President Tinubu wants the protests to stop, he must come out and address Nigerians ," Dalung stated.

The former minister emphasized that the protesters are not just asking for good governance but also seeking accountability and transparency from the government.

"Nigerians want to know what is happening to their country and how their resources are being utilized," he added.

Dalung commended the protesters for their peaceful conduct and urged them to remain law-abiding.

The protesters in Jos have been demanding good governance, economic reforms, and an end to corruption. They have also called for the government to address the high level of unemployment, poverty, and inequality in the country.

As the protests continue across the nation, there are growing concerns about the impact on the economy and social stability. Many are calling on the government to take immediate action to address the grievances of the protesters.

Dalung's call on President Tinubu to address the nation is seen as a move to ease the tension and find a lasting solution to the crisis. Will the president heed this call, or will the protests continue to intensify? Only time will tell.

Meanwhile, Sam Ode, Program Manager at the International Organization for Peace and Social Justice (PSJ), has described the ongoing protests in Nigeria as a peaceful expression of grievances by the citizens.

Ode said the protesters are sending a clear message to the government that they are unhappy with the current state of affairs and are demanding change.

Ode commended the protesters for their peaceful conduct, saying "As much as the youth are hungry, they are peaceful, dancing, and showing the government that they are placing their demands."

He emphasized that the government needs to listen to the protesters and address the root cause of the issue, rather than wasting resources and violating their rights.

Ode warned that if the president fails to address the protesters' demands, Nigerians have the capacity to remain on the streets until their voices are heard.

"If the president is not coming out to address the people that have hired him, then Nigerians have also the capacity to remain on the street until the right thing is done," he said.

Recall Solomon Dalung and Prophet Isa El-Buba, Convener Initiative for a Better and Brighter Nigeria (IBBN) are at the forefront of peaceful protest in Jos.
