The Member representing Jos North-Bassa Federal Constituency at the 10th National Assembly, Daniel Asama has provides palliative for displaced constituents affected by terrorists attack.

Our correspondent reports that previously some communities, particularly in Miango, Bassa and Yelwa-Zangam of Jos North local government areas of Plateau State were under siege by bandits.

The unfortunate scenario that led to the untimely demise of many as victims severely lost their means of livelihood.

Asama, a chieftain of Labour Party while presenting the relief items in ANAN, College of Accountancy, Kwal, Bassa LGA acknowledged that, "this is basically to create succour for the hardship that people are going through in the country at the moment. This is particularly for people who have been displaced over the past year or two years in this constituency."

The assorted items given to the beneficiaries includes; rice, spaghetti, indomie, millet, groundnut oil, semovita, roofing sheets and nails, reading tables and chairs, school sandals and bags as well as books respectively.

The Lawmaker revealed it is a constituency intervention program which he got from the Nigeria Commission for Refugee Council through the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, "so of course, if you put a value to it, it's big money."

"I just want to make this clear so people will understand. A lot of the money you hear about, where they say legislators get this money, this is how we get it. It's not always cash. We get the money from this kind of intervention. So if you hear someone say they got an intervention of 50 million, this is what it means. It does not necessarily mean that you have the cash. They don't give us cash. MDAs (Ministries, Departments, and Agencies) have the cash. We just channel projects through them."

On how they arrived at selection of the beneficiaries, Asama confirmed that already they have statistics, and they work with their community leaders in the displaced communities which they provide them with names because the leaders know those with immediate needs.

"For the first tranche today, a flag-off of the distribution that is happening we have about 50 beneficiary households. Then subsequently we have another 50 and another 50 coming in batches. We have people displaced around Yelwa-Zangam, which is going towards Tilde, the borders between Plateau and Bauchi State."

He urged constituents to remain steadfast in praying for him as he determines to continue providing effective representation at the green chamber of the National Assembly.

Speaking with our correspondent, some of the beneficiaries; Mrs. Asabe Musa and Daniel Sunday shower encomium to the Lawmaker for remembering them at this economic hardship, promised to make judicious use of the items.
