Matthew Tegha, has been emerged as new Chairman of Plateau Bloggers and Online Media Association (PLABOMA), to serve for three years term alongside other executives.
Tegha, who is the immediate past deputy chairman of the association succeed his predecessor, Friday Bako, during the association's annual general Congress and election, held at the PLABOMA Secretariat in Jos on Wednesday.
Other members of the association which contested and won in various positions are; Ibrahim Kalamu-Secretary, Peter Akpa- Public Relations Officer, Patience Tekora-Financial Secretary as well as John Dauda-Auditor respectively.
Speaking shortly after administered the oath of allegiance by Lohkat Binde Esq, Matthew Tegha expressed profound gratitude to the members for trusting him their mandates, assured readiness and commitment to serve with dedication, transparency, and integrity.
"Blogging and online media have become powerful tools in shaping society, bridging communication gaps, driving positive change. As Bloggers and digital media practitioners, we have the responsibility of not just informing but also inspiring and empowering our communities. Our voices matter, and together, we can amplify them to bring about meaningful impact.
"As we embark on this new chapter, I envision a vibrant, inclusive, and progressive association that promotes professionalism, collaboration, and innovation. Our collective growth lies in supporting one another and creating platform that enhance our skills, elevate our standards, and uphold ethical practices in our work.
"I urged each one of you to share your ideas, provide constructive feedback, and actively participate in the activities of our association. Together, we can create a legacy that future members will be proud to uphold", the chairman added.
Commending the outgone executives for taking the association to where it is, the chairman correspondents' chapel, Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Plateau State Council, Polycarp Auta stated that leadership is multi-tasking, calling on the new executive members to remain diligent.
Emphasizing the need for adhering to the ethics and ethos of the professionalism, Auta acknowledged that blogging has come to stay, as such members of the association should always verify, balancing, and reports stories that promotes unity and peaceful coexistence.
He also assured correspondents' chapel willingness to continue according support to PLABOMA for advancing the course of humanity.
Bolaji Pedro, Jay-FM station Jos, harps the association for prioritizing the welfare and training of it's members, saying, "were partners in progress."
However, the outgone chairman of PLABOMA, Friday Bako revealed they have demonstrated capacity in terms of prudence utilization of the association's resources.
He appreciates members for their support, urging them to extend same to his successor.
