The Nigerian Police Force (NPF), Plateau State Command has engaged stakeholders towards finding a lasting solutions to contemporary security challenges in the state.

Daily Champion reports that, Plateau in recent times witnessed some uncertainty ranging from kidnapping, child trafficking, communal clash and other criminal activities, the situation which government expressed dismay.

The stakeholders engagement aimed at strengthening synergy and better collaboration between security agencies and the citizens to enhance peaceful coexistence in the state as farming season deepen.

The Commissioner of Police, Plateau State Command, CP Emmanuel Adesina declared that Plateau is witnessing relative peace.

CP Adesina, while addressing stakeholders at Police Officers Mess in Jos the state capital on Thursday, confirmed that the security agents are implementing the template of Executive Order 001 signed by Governor Caleb Mutfwang for the temporary suspension of all illegal mining activities in the state.

"I stand before you today with gratitude for one thing—we are here to talk about peace.  
We are enjoying peace in the state.I believe that by coming together, I will not be in distress.I trust that we are going to achieve a lot."

 "And as we all know, our people in local governments across the state, especially the farmers, need to go to their farms.  We must provide security and assure them of their safety.Together, we will make this happen," the CP added.

Underscoring the unwavering commitment of security agencies towards prioritizing peaceful society, permanent secretary on security, Wycliff Bewet acknowledged have done their best to maintain peace, but their best will not be enough if citizens do not partner with them.  

The permanent secretary who represents Governor Caleb Mutfwang, stated that trafficking does not begin with security agencies, but in the end, it becomes their responsibility. "Parents allow their children to be taken away for child labor, prostitution, and other vices. Please, we are calling on the mothers among us— intensify efforts to spread the message that no child should be allowed to leave the community. If you, as a neighbor, realize that a child in your community is missing, you should raise questions."

On issue of legalizing mining activities in the following the signing of Executive Order 001, he opines that the Plateau Indigenous Miners Association (PIMA) have already made a position, they are calling on members to register in order to legitimize their operations on the Plateau.  

"This means there must have been engagement with the miners to reach such a position. Otherwise, they would have been opposing the government regarding registration. So, for those who still believe there has not been much engagement, they should reconsider."
