A concerned group under the auspices of North Central Support Groups for Dr. Gbenga Joel Hashim presidential bid for 2027, has appealed the national working committee (NWC) of the People Democratic Party (PDP) to allowed the presidential ticket open to all geopolitical zones.
Not quite long ago, the NWC of the PDP had decided to micro zoned the party's presidential ticket of 2027 to the southern part of the country.
But the North Central Support Groups for Hashim's 2027 presidential bid said the ticket should be open for all qualify aspirants in the interest of justice and fair play.
Converner of the group, Dimfa Ezekiel who doubled as the coordinator, North Central Support Groups for Hashim's 2027 presidential bid tender the appeal on Tuesday at the PDP secretariat in Jos, as he spoke to Journalists.
The groups also endorse governor Caleb Mutfwang for the second tenure to consolidate on the games already achieved in Plateau State, saying that the governor has no doubt change the narrative of governance in terms of leadership in Plateau state with infrastructural development everywhere, ensuring peace and security of citizens and inclusive Governance in the state.
"We also wish to respectfully appeal to the National Working Committee of our Party to look in to the recent zoning arrangements made in order to provide a level Playing ground for all in the 2027 presidential election.
"While we understand the need for internal party dynamics and strategies to win elections, we humbly appeal to the PDP leadership to reconsider its decision of zoning the presidential ticket to the South. We believe, this move may inadvertently create perceptions of unfairness and undermine the party's commitment to inclusivity and meritocracy.
"Nigerians are united in their desire for effective leadership that can tackle the nation's pressing challenges, including economic woes and security threats and we believe that only the PDP can provide leaders with ability to deliver tangible results and drive national progress.
"We kindly appeal that the PDP prioritize a level playing field for all aspirants, regardless of geographical location. This approach will uphold the principles of fairness and equity and ensure that the party presents a strong, united front to the Nigerian people.
"We wish to commend the National Working Committee of the Party led by our amiable Chairman, Iliya Damagun, the BOT members, and other critical stakeholders of the Party for their unwavering commitment to stabilizing the party and sustaining the momentum as we prepare for the Ibadan National Convention in 2027.
"We hereby reiterate our support for Barr. Caleb Mutfwang on the Plateau and Dr. Gbenga Joel Hashim for president, believing that they possess the vision, leadership skills, and character required to lead Plateau and Nigeria to greatness," Ezekiel added.
