The attention of the APC Like-Minds  (LM) has been drawn to a recent video making rounds in THE social and conventional media, suggesting that Prophet Elijah Ayodele openly warning President Bola Ahmed Tinubu against retaining Professor Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe as the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), alleging that the Christian cleric lacks the capacity for the office.

As a Forum of patriotic Nigerians committed to the deepening of democracy and good governance and protection of national institutions, we find it not only troubling, but highly irresponsible for a religious leader of Ayodele’s standing to cloak personal opinions in the garment of prophecy in a manner that undermines democratic choices and political stability.

According to the e-statement, religious freedom is a constitutional right, and indeed, religious leaders have the liberty to speak on issues affecting society. However, such interventions must be guided by maturity, responsibility, and an understanding of the fragile fabric of our nation.

It stated that Nigeria cannot afford a situation where unverified prophecies are weaponized to delegitimize leaders, sow seed of discord, or weaken the confidence of citizens in the political process.

The APC Like-Minds  noted that Professor Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe, contrary to Ayodele’s claims, is not a lightweight. He is a thoroughbred technocrat, an astute academic of global repute, and a man who has demonstrated character, vision, and leadership capacity at various levels of service.

"His emergence as APC National Chairman symbolizes a new generation of leadership driven by competence, inclusivity, and meritocracy. To reduce such a personality to the whims of so-called prophecies is an insult not only to his person but also to the millions of Nigerians who value and trust his leadership" the Forum stressed.

The statement emphasized that political leadership in a democracy is not determined by prophecies but by competence, legitimacy, and the will of the people. Therefore it is dangerous and counterproductive for any cleric Christian, Muslim, or traditional to arrogate to themselves the role of kingmakers through predictions that often lacks empirical evidence.

The APC Like-Minds, therefore appeals to Prophet Ayodele and other religious leaders to maintain a clear line between spirituality and politics. While the nation respects the prophetic and spiritual roles of clerics, politics must remain a people-driven process anchored on constitutional provisions, institutional growth, and democratic participation, stressing that blurring this line, not only erodes the credibility of religious institutions but also endangers the very democratic fabric we are all striving to protect.

It reaffirmed it's total confidence in Professor Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe as the National Chairman of the APC as his leadership offers Nigeria an opportunity for generational renewal, credible party administration, and stronger internal democracy.

The APC Like-Minds National President urged all Nigerians to rally round him with support, constructive criticism, and prayers to enable him succeed in this demanding assignment.

Nigeria is at a crossroads where what is most needed is not divisive prophecies but unity of purpose, responsible leadership, and a collective commitment to building a stable, just, and prosperous nation.
