The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, JOKATU Property Development Ltd, Abuja, John Gamasaura Katura, has lend his voice to condemn recent attacks that resulted to lost of lives and properties in some Plateau communities.
Katura who is the Patron, Plateau Youth Council (Plateau North Senatorial District) and
Chairman, Board of Trustees, Anaguta Youth Development and Cultural Association, tasked youths, parents as well as stakeholders to eschwe and prioritize peaceful coexistence across Plateau.
This was contained in a statement personally signed by Katura and issued to newsmen on Thursday in Jos the state capital.
According to him, "It is with a heavy heart and a deep sense of outrage that I condemn in the strongest terms the recent spate of unprovoked violence against innocent citizens in our beloved Plateau State.
"The news of the attack on Doruwa Babuje community on Sunday, 22nd February 2026, where 9 peaceful individuals were slaughtered at a relaxation spot, is a wound on the conscience of our humanity.
"Furthermore, the barbaric interception and killing of innocent travellers and traders on Monday, 23rd February 2026, simply going about their legitimate duties, is a descent into madness that we must collectively reject.
"Let me be unequivocal: Violence of whatever form is not acceptable. The taking of a life, under any guise, is an abomination that finds no justification in either Christianity or Islam. To attack local communities at night and to stop commuters on the highway to kill them as reprisals is not just criminal; it is barbaric, inhumane, and must be treated as acts of terrorism.
"As a Patron of the Plateau Youth Council (Plateau North Senatorial District), I call on the youth of Plateau North to rise above this primitive and destructive path. We must allow the government to carry out its constitutional duties without the confusion of reprisal attacks that only deepen the wounds.
"Parents must wake up. The time to act on the behavior of our children is now, before it is too late. The machete and the rifle in the hands of a young person are signs of parental and communal failure.
"Religious leaders must preach beyond the pulpit. If your followers engage in violent acts against their neighbors, your sermons have failed to translate into action. Teach them that the blood of an innocent person is heavier than the heavens and the earth.
"I call on the government to be proactive. The primary duty of any government is the protection of life and property. We need urgent, decisive action to restore the confidence of the people. Security agencies must be empowered and supported to identify and fish out these perpetrators.
"This circle of violence, particularly in Plateau North, serves no one. It is not in the interest of our zone, our state, or our future. It paints us in the colors of hatred when we should be painting a picture of unity and progress. As future leaders, we must resist it with every fiber of our being.
"I commiserate deeply with the bereaved families who have lost loved ones in this recent unrest. May the Almighty grant you the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss, and I wish a speedy recovery to the injured.
"Let us finally learn to embrace our cultural and religious diversity as a strength, not a weakness. As youths, let us unite to fight our common enemies—poverty, ignorance, and disunity—rather than fighting each other.
"We must build a stronger zone and a stronger Plateau State. Those dark days are gone; here is a new dawn", Katura concluded.
