The Plateau Progressive Minds For Positive Development condemn the recent killings in Angwa Rukuba, Jos North LGA, and accuse some groups of spreading false narratives to undermine Governor Caleb Mutfwang's administration.

The group praise Governor Mutfwang's efforts to promote unity and inclusivity, citing initiatives like road rehabilitation, mosque renovation, and interfaith dialogue.

Speaking of newsmen on Thursday in Jos, coordinator of the group, Morgan Armstrong Pam, said they register their heartfelt sympathy to the victims of this heinous crime and commend the Angwa Rukuba community for a show of civility by refusing to take law into their hands by way of reprisal attack.

"We equally commend His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang for timely response by imposing a 48-hour curfew on Jos North, and ensuring that security is beef up to avoid escalation.

"We therefore, call on the security agencies to live up to their constitutional obligation to ensure that the perpetrators of this heinous act and their sponsors are arrested and prosecuted to serve as deterrent and instill confidence in the minds of citizens".

Pam expressed disappointment by some crisis merchants have taken to public space with false narratives with regard to the handling of security in the state with some accusing him of complicity, targeting and killing Muslims in Jos.

"We consider this allegation as reckless, insensitive and misleading, taking into cognizance the fact that the Palm Sunday Killings occured in a Christian dominated area, with all the victims being Christians.

"Gov. Mutfwang has been noted for his efforts to foster unity, inclusivity and interfaith harmony among Christian and Muslim communities since assuming office in May 2023.

"He has frequently emphasized that his administration is committed to fair treatment and justice for all citizens, regardless of religious or ethnic background.

It is on record that his administration has pursued a policy of "carrying everyone along" through several initiatives designed to bridge historical divides in the state:

"His administration has rehabilitated roads in areas with significant Muslim population within the Jos metropolis, such as Masalacin Jumaa Street, Chobe road, and Zololo junction.

"Governor Mutfwang has approved the renovation of the Jos Central Mosque and sponsored a substantial number of Muslim pilgrims for the annual Hajj. amongst other things.

Thank God, the President is in Jos to commiserate with victims of the gun attacks. "We hope this visit will avail him the opportunity of knowing the true position with regard to security challenge in Plateau State.

The group further revealed that by prioritizing security, strengthening collaboration with national institutions, empowering local communities, and fostering dialogue across divides, Governor Mutfwang is laying a solid foundation for a secure, united, and prosperous Plateau State.

"It is on this basis that Plateau Progressive Minds For Positive Development, hereby, pass a vote of confidence on Governor Caleb Mannanseh Mutfwang because of his sterling performance amid security challenges.

"We call on the people of Plateau State to be united and support Governor Mutfwang to continue the good work.
