The Commander of the Special Task Force (STF) in Plateau State, Operation Save Heaven, General Augustine Agundu has described the renewed incidents of violence on the Plateau as unexpected hand work of some elites who are only interested in themselves.

The STF boss stated this when members of the Plateau Publishers Association (PPA), led by its Chairman, Mr. Nash Hosea paid him a courtesy call in his office.

He also opined that the 20 year old crises on the Plateau is a battle for growth and nation building which journalist have a huge role to play.

He said that the main reason why the crises has refused to end on the Plateau is because there is too much food and vegetables. " There's too much food and vegetables to eat, because people have enough food, they keep fighting".

He called on PPA Members who are owners of magazines, newspapers, journals and websites to take their jobs seriously, shun negative reportage and inciting headlines as well as use the media to tell the true story, not just report for financial growth.

"It's unfortunate that we are passing violence to generations and we have become so stubborn that we do not want to let go. Let's stop inculcating violence in our children but rather, give fair reportage of the problems in Plateau State" he said.

Speaking earlier, Chairman of PPA, Mr. Nash Hosea described the relationship between the media and the military as very cordial, hence the purpose of the familiarisation visit.

He said, the STF is a critical partner in the socio-economic development of of Plateau State.

In his words, "as publishers and journalists, we are the authentic source of information and as such, very useful tools in gathering intelligence; capable of forstalling conflicts".
