A renowned citadel of learning, university of Jos, college of Health sciences has inducted about sixty brand new set of Qualified Medical Doctors into the health care industry.

The inductees which spent about 5 to 6 years in the institution depending on the mode of entry in the programme said to have came from three MBBS professional examination that were held between April,May and August,2019.

According to the Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Seddi S.Maimako " this is our contribution as training institution to our country's health care industry knowing fully well that the brain our medical doctors to other climes. This brain drain is a great loss not only on our country's investment but also the loss of skilled manpower that would have been available for our people.

The VC who was been represented by deputy Vice Chancellor Academic, Prof. Tanko Ishaya said so much has been put in place by the government through the university and teaching hospital as well as by individual families to bring up the inductees.

"To the graduands, you should know that so much has been put in to make you what you are today. It is therefore means that the society expect much from you through dedicated, selfless and qualitative service.

"As a university, we will spare no effort in building infrastructure and capacity within available resources to make the institution to be amongst the best. I can assure you that this college too will be a beneficiary.

"We have been able to complete the abandoned Block D which contract was the first to be awarded among the clinical blocks and the new Faculty of Dental science has taken possession of it. We are making all efforts to furnish and provide the necessary equipment for teaching and research.

"We will be expecting the National Universities Commission (NUC) in the last quarter of this year for the accreditation of the Bachelor Dental Surgery(BDS) programme." He mentioned.

He also disclosed institution's readiness to continue doing its best towards accessing what is due for them from TETfund and other funding agencies to enable them build more infrastructure for the university.

"We have received funding from TETfund for the Faculties of veterinary medicine and Agriculture as well as to complete the abandoned multipurpose lecture theatre of the college.

"To our graduands, you have been found worthy both in character and learning and I want you to carry on with the motto of our university Discipline and Dedication and you will succeed in all your future endeavours." He concluded.

Earlier, Provost of the college, Prof. Simon J. Yiltok acknowledged that the graduands had quality training and a summarize assessment that has led to their success.

" We have been having enormous support from the Vice Chancellor in both infrastructure and manpower development. We have had addition staff recruited for all our programmes in the college.

"We are considering starting two new programmes(Physiotherapy and Radiography) which we intend to start on university structure located in the old site of JUTH.

"The new programmes will not only add to the needed manpower in our health care of this country but also reduce the pressure for admission into our existing programmes by adding alternative." He added.
