Honourable Chris Hassan have emerged as brand new chairman of the major opposition People's Democratic Party, PDP, Plateau State chapter.

Hassan, a former commissioner for Works during Senator Jonah Jang administration is also the immediate past PDP Vice Chairman Northern zone.

 Elections of Chris Hassan became eminent when delegates across the 17 Local Government Area participates  the State-wide Congress that held 26th to 27th, August,2020, in Langfield park, Rayfield, Jos South LGA.

Four candidates jostled the position of chairmanship namely; Hon.Chris Hassan, Ngo Monicah Gwom, Hon. Bitrus Kaze and Hon. Aminu Zang respectively.

Our correspondent also observed that two of the chairmanship candidates, Bitrus Kaze and Aminu Zang including other aspirants seeking for other positions boycott the congress on the reason which based known to them.

Announcing the election results, Plateau State PDP congress returning officer, Maj. Gen. Annum Kalayi Kwaskibe rtd, said Chris Hassan having pulled highest number of 1,629 votes cast to edge his opponents, Bitrus Kaze who scored 22 votes, Ngo Monicah Gwom 13 votes and 
Aminu Zang got nil.

The returning officer revealed the total number of delegates as 2,120 in which 1,699 were accredited and 35 various positions was contested alongside chairmanship position making 36.

This medium also gather that about 11 position were returned unopposed while 25 posts under goes voting process.

Among those who retain their position are; Yakubu Cho-cho, state organizing secretary, John Akans, Publicity secretary, Mary Adar Gar, state financial secretary, Tuang Emmanuel Dawam, State secretary, Simon Domle Vinmak vice chairman Southern zone and Binchen Jantur, state legal adviser.

The first timers who made the cabinet includes; Davou Mang Vice Chairman Northern zone, capt. Bitrus Golen, Deputy state chairman, Martina Dakur, state women leader, Angela Shinkur, State Auditor, Nantip Laktam Padur, state youth leader amongst others.

Maj.Gen. Annum Kalayi rtd,appreciates delegates maturity throughout the election process, noting"it was peaceful, smoothly, transparent, free and fair exercise".

However, Plateau State PDP Caretaker Committee chairman, Senator Suleiman Adokwe applaud the electoral umpire,party loyalists, stakeholders who turned en-masse and make the exercise a reality.

He charged the incoming party executives to run an inclusive governance in line with the PDP Constitution.

Speaking shortly after inauguration, the new Plateau State PDP chairman, Chris Hassan lament that " our journey as party is very tough one but God see us through."

"I will embark on consultation that would gear towards genuine reconciliation knowing fully well the expectations of the office of chairman."

He also assured that PDP will win Plateau South Senatorial district by-election slated for 31st October, 2020, and to take over the reigns of power comes 2023 in the state.

Senator representing Plateau North Senatorial district, Istifanus Gyang expressed optimism over peaceful conduct of the Congress.

" this is the platform that we are waiting for to get a leadership that would carry every body along for the task ahead that would regaining the leadership of Plateau State in the years to come.

"Our call to the people of Plateau State particularly PDP, this is a moment for us to unite, this is a moment of us to come together, this is a moment for us to fully reconcile ourselves so that we can be one united formidable family because of what is ahead of us now, we have  Plateau South Senatorial by-election that is a task that we want to pick that slot and of course we are picking it.

"And also get ready for the main task that is coming ahead in 2023. This is the time that we are gotten our eggs together for what is ahead of us. And for Plateau people what you been waiting for is here again the PDP". He maintained.

Also speaking, Chairman Langtang North LGA, Joshua Ubandoma,said " you can how PDP family canvassed and peaceful elects our executive members to run the affairs of because we gone through a lot of challenges in the past and the unity of the party is sacrosanct, so we want to ensure that we follow please party members elders and put our heads together so that we can sustain our party and reclaim our mandate come 2023."
