The Plateau state Government said that the dangerous data variant dictated in Nigeria known as third wave of COVID-19 is yet to be registered in the state.

 Plateau state commissioner of health Dr. Nimkong Ndam told our correspondent in Jos on Thursday, that the recent red alert by the authorities on the third wave of coronavirus pandemic in seven states of the Federation is yet to be recorded on the Plateau.

According to him:"we have not registered any case of COVID-19. The last one we have diagnosed is on the 6th of this month since after then we have not registered any case on the Plateau.

Ndam said "the third wave is not here yet, we're just anticipating. The Government said let just keep our Isolation centers in position, we should prepare in case anything would come. But as the Commissioner of health the last confirm case that we treated and discharge was on the 5th July.

On the preparedness of the state in case of any outbreak, the health commissioner said "Our isolation centers is still functional and people are still around. We didn't close because our staff are fully on ground in case of any eventuality. The only one we close is the one in Shendam because for a long time we have not admitted any one there. So we temporarily closed it but all other ones are still intact. 

"Like the one in Jos Plateau specialist Hospital, Jankwanu and JUTH are still open. So in case of any eventuality Plateau state is ever ready", Ndam stated.

On testing rate, he said it has dropped drastically and advise the citizens to come forward for test.

He also revealed that the state government has continue to embark on aggressive enlightenment and sensitization campaign to intimate the public on the inherent danger of the third wave of coronavirus and as well obey it's protocols.
