The outgoing pioneer Director General of Plateau state Microfinance Development Agency (PLASMIDA), Haggai Gutap have stated that the agency empowered over one hundred thousand micro small medium enterprises (MSMEs) beneficiaries in the state ever since it's establishment in 2016.

Gutap said before they came on board the MSMEs don't have organized platform but with the coming of Governor Simon Lalong on board that has been actualize and we're able to match the MSMEs according to clusters.

He said they have road transport sector, leather work sector, agro processing (those that are into wielding and fabrication), fashion and design and the building value chain construction.

The former DG PLASMIDA revealed this on Friday at agency headquarters in Jos the state capital while handing over to Mr Bomkam Wuyep as the incoming DG.

According to Gutap:" over the years we learned on how to build frontiers and do business with other organizations. We are tapping from the Federal Government to see what they are doing and that has brought us into partnership with the central Bank of Nigeria, Bank of industry, NIRSAL Microfinance, development Banks of Nigeria and all the regulatory agencies that have something to do with ease of doing business.

He said :" based on experience, we have been one of the state that produce consecutively outstanding SMEs in Nigeria.

"Plateau has a lot to offer on the SMEs sub sector and we are tried to segment the SMEs into cluster whereby strengthen the capacity of all the business we have in the state and that have yielded desire impact.

" My dream for PLASMIDA is to be able to see it achieve exceedingly and recognized globally not to be a local player", Gutap stated.

He appreciates Governor Simon Lalong for the opportunity served, and also applauded the management and staff of the organization for their unflinching support and challenge them to extend same to his successor.

Recall Haggai Gutap is now appointed by the Plateau state Government as technical administrative head state COVID-19 action recovery and economic stimulus (CARES) coordinating unit.

While receiving the mantle of leadership, incoming DG Bomkam Wuyep assure to build on foundation led by his predecessor to move the agency to high standard.

He charged other management staff of the organization to redouble their zeal, dedication and determination as the fight against poverty and unemployment is beyond lips service.
