In another round of familiarization visits, The Executive Chairman Kanke Local Government Council was on the ground for the official declaration of the "Operation Safe Heaven Youth Peace Tournament” which Kickstarted with a football match between Kanke LGA and Kanam LGA at the Lebwit football field. 


The Organizers of the competition represented the GOC 3rd Armoured Division who doubles as the Commander Operation Safe Haven, bestowed on the Chairman the title of "Ambassador of Operation Safe Heaven Youth Peace Tournament 2021”


While responding The Executive Chairman, firstly commended Operation Safe Haven for the relative peace enjoyed, since the coming of the present Commander and GOC to the state, he further applauded methods used by the GOC in fostering the desired peace on the Plateau.



He added that sporting activities such as football and marathon employed by the GOC have no doubt improved tolerance and cohabitation amongst citizens in the Local Government and State at large. 


He further commended the organizers as well, for such laudable initiative. One of the organizers in the person of Mr Victor "Sharer” Domtur, who later spoke to our correspondent at the OPSH headquarters located in Jos was full of joy with the outcome of the initiative while also expressing his overwhelming shock with the magnitude of talents that abounds in the State.


"I do not doubt that Footballing tournaments like this unite the  people irrespective of tribe, religion etc, we will continue to engage our youths to participate in sporting activities and create more opportunities for them within and outside the local government area" The Chairman added


Operation Safe Heaven Youth Tournament is a unity sporting activity, which cuts across Plateau, Bauchi and Kaduna States. With Kaduna having 5 LGs in participation, Bauchi with 2 as well, then the remaining from Plateau State, also in participation are 6 tertiary Institutions.


The match was officially started at about 10 minutes past 4 pm, with The Executive Chairman of Kanke Local Government Council giving an official kick to start the game.



The Executive Chairman Kanke Local Government Council, Hon. Henry Jan Gotip, on Thursday 21st October 2021. Further extended his benevolent unscheduled visits to Dawaki market in his quest to improve and better the economic fortunes of KANKE LG.


He in turn after inspections promised rehabilitation and remodelling of the Dawaki market to improve revenue generation and also better the life's of traders in the market as one of the ripple effects of enhancing the economic activities of the market.


The Chairman had in his entourage The Director Of Finance and Supply, Director Of Works amongst others also with him were his Media team and many good wishers of KANKE LG

He received a pleasant welcome from Mr Titus Gompil, who is the Sarkin Kasuwan domicile in Dawaki, the Sarkin kasuwa who was overwhelmed with the visit expressed his undeniable support to the Young and visionary Chairman to continue his wonderful deeds to the end.

He also carried the chairman through the various sectors of the market as he inspected the conditions of the market.


In the same vein, while replying to the leadership team of the market, The Executive Chairman encouraged Sarkin Kasuwa to be more accountable in terms of revenue generation and leakages which will, in turn, help the renovation and remodelling of the market as resources had to be sourced non kinetically considering the economic national decrease in general of the nation.


The proactive approach by the young lad is yielding results as we await the most important part, "IMPLEMENTATION"
