Sen. I.D Gyang on Tuesday, 07/12/2021, contributed on the floor of the Senate during plenary in favor of a bill seeking for the Domestication in Nigeria of the African Union Convention For The Protection and Assistance of Internally Displaced Persons in Africa, presented by Sen. Frank Chukwuma.


The African Union Convention for the Protection and Assistance of Internally Displaced Persons in Africa (The Kampala Convention) which was adopted in October, 2009 aims at addressing the needs of displaced persons beyond just offering relief materials.


The people's Senator, Sen. Gyang, who has always identified with internally displaced persons and has shown concern to their plights called on his colleagues in the Senate to support the domestication of this convention, as it will aid in hastening the rehabilitation and resettlement of persons who have been displaced.
