The member representing Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam (PKK), Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi said All Progressive Congress (APC), is determine to win Bassa/Jos North Constituency bye-election slated for Saturday 26th February,2023.
Gagdi who is a chairman House committee on Navy acknowledged that the election will be a let most test for the ruling party.
The Law Maker made the remarks on Sunday in Jos while speaking to reporters during a fund raising dinner organized by friends of Abbey Aku to support his candidature as a flag bearer of APC in the forthcoming bye-election.
According to Gagdi, "We are here for find raising dinner for the person that become the flag bearer. This seat election is very important to my party (APC), otherwise the money we are spending personally some of us on that particular stool is something that even the person that will be elected cannot get that kind of resources.
"But we must do our best to make sure that we passed the test so that PDP doesn't have any reason to campaign against us in 2023 and by the special grace of God were determined to make sure that APC is win in this election.
"We are determined to make sure that we don't give any loophole for any political party to come in or ruin us or to use against us in forthcoming election.
"Let there be peaceful election. And again let there be no voter apathy we must call on our party members to come out en- masse to vote", he mentioned.
Gagdi expressed dismay on how the seat remains vacant long overdue, noting that "Ours in the National Assembly, first it is unfortunate that were elected to represent a Constituency 8 of us and we are happened to be 7 at the moment. So it is not a good circumstance to see that someone that we have been working together in the person of late Alhaji Maitala Haruna died, in the first instance it is not a good idea.
"And again, death is necessary for every calamity including me and you. We must one day die and meet our creator. So it is a phenomenon that we must learn to live with it!
Secondly, "other Constituencies in the National Assembly that lost their loved ones election has been conducted and seat has been return. Ours in Jos North/ Bassa I know the challenge we faced in trying to ensure Mr speaker declared the seat vacant. And to ensure that the communication from the National Assembly have been taking to INEC for them to know that the seat is vacant and the date for the election has been fixed and I believe primaries election is conducted in all political parties."
While commending on Mupun Youth cultural connect program which held in Pankshin LGA, Hon. Gagdi said "I am a strong advocate of social and cultural integration.
"The only thing that will bring people together is such event where people of different culture will come together because it serves as a pillar of peaceful coexistence.
"So Mupun Youth cultural connect is one event that I will encourage people from other ethic nationality to as a matter of fact reciprocate that event where people would come together, celebrate together, seat together and forget about their differences and learn to live for the collective good of the community."
