Mrs. Josephine Piyo, Deputy Governor Plateau State

Plateau State Deputy Governor, Mrs Josephine Piyo has reiterated the commitment of the Caleb Mutfwang-led administration in promoting and creating ample opportunity for girl child development to thrive in the state.

Piyo stated this in a message to commemorate the 2023 International Day of the Girl Child.

She said that advancing the cause of women in the state by creating adequate access to education, safety, and healthcare for the girl-child, is paramount to their administration.

The deputy governor decried  harmful gender norms perpetuated in some communities are some of the stumbling blocks that keep women locked out of opportunities, particularly negotiating rooms and political institutions in the future.

Piyo further stated that the Caleb Mutfwang-led administration is putting up efforts and policies that are critical in advancing access to education and skills that will empower women and girls in the state.

She said the government would advance girls’ human rights by investing in their growth and addressing the significant barriers and access challenges they face.

She encouraged young women and girls to imbibe the culture of self discipline and not to indulge in risky behaviours.
