A group known as Kanam Progressive Youth in Plateau State have lent their voice in support of Professor Saleh Muhammad Kanam to succeeded Senator Simon Lalong who representing the state in the Federal Executive Council as minister of Labour and Employment.
The group contention is that, Lalong having declared winner of Plateau South Senatorial district seat by the Appellate Court and received certificate of return may soon joined his colleagues at the red chamber of the National Assembly.
Voicing their position while speaking to reporters on Wednesday in Jos the state capital, Chairman and Secretary of Kanam Progressive Youth, Hon. Ali Abdullahi and Hon.Buhari Zakari acknowledged that Prof. Saleh Muhammad Kanam had contributes his quota to the growth and development APC at all levels.
The group believed that he has demonstrated capacity in all responsibilities assigned to him and therefore forming part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu cabinet would not be a big deal.
However, findings revealed that there are other top contenders within the ranks and filed of APC in Plateau who are jostling for the position in case Senator Lalong vacates the seat to the Senate chamber.
But Kanam Progressive Youth called on president Tinubu and other APC stakeholders on the Plateau to grant consideration to their plea which is predicated on the rule of law and entrenching internal democracy within the APC as a party.
According to the group, "considering that many people may be eyeing the same position, we want to quickly remind the party stakeholders in Plateau state to stick to their resolution of recommending only party members who are nominated by the party EXCO and stakeholders at their respective wards, LGAs and the state levels.
"We also called on all stakeholders in the state, party stalwarts and all believers of the Renewed Hope Agenda, in the interest of justice and fairness, to reward his faithfulness, hard work and loyalty to the party by recommending Prof. Saleh Muhammad Kanam to president Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointment as minister and member of the Federal Executive Council", the group hinted.
