The member representing Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam (PKK) Federal Constituency at the 10th National Assembly, Rt.Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, has stated that he always envisaged qualitative representation anchor towards enhancing good governance and accountability to the people.

Gagdi, a chairman House of Representative committee on Navy in the 9th and 10th Assembly sponsored bills that yield establishment of Admiral University of Navy and transformation of Federal College of Education (FCE) Pankshin to Federal University of Education Pankshin recently. Vowed not to rest in his oars as he continued empowering and sponsoring bills which are beneficial to his constituents.

The Lawmaker who was speaking during an official campaign flag off of the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidates for chairmanship in Kanam LGA, Alhaji. Mohammed Abdullahi Barau alongside 20 councillors ahead of  the 9th October, 2024, local governments elections in Plateau said the party remained unshakable as they received over 15,000 decampees that left PDP and other political parties.

"The detail I'm talking about, the AK-47 rifle of any politician, is the common man, the people who have the vote.They have spoken. You know them as usual when it comes to Gagdi in Kanam.

"So the essence is to show Plateau people that Kanam is ready for the local government election. So long as that election is going to be conducted, you cannot rig the election in Kanam. You can only announce in Jos.But to come to Kanam and conduct an election and say APC is not in Kanam, we are waiting for them...."

Our correspondent  reports that few weeks ago prominent APC members in Kanam such as the former chairman of the council, Alhaji Dayyabu Garga alongside former deputy speaker in Plateau 9th Assembly, Rt. Hon. Saleh Yipmong including their loyalists exit the party and unite with PDP.

The scenario which some pundits described as a huge setback for APC in Kanam and Plateau. But Gagdi said those who left APC based on their choices as he had strong conviction that the electorates will vote APC taking into cognisant what the party is doing not in Kanam by the entire PKK constituency.

"All the roads you are passing through, I constructed them. I'm a product of APC.There is no street here that you follow where that road is not done by me.There is no borehole that supplies water across the polling units that is not from some of us.There is no town hall, and at every electoral event, you will see a hall built by us.Even the PDP uses the places I built to conduct their meetings.

"So there is development in all angles of the local government, be it paying registration fees for WAEC, NECO, and JAMB, not just giving data at a business center to register, but we pay the registration fees.We have done a lot.

"Is it human capital development or empowerment? Is it employment opportunities? Why, if you go to NIMASA, you will meet them there; they are employed.In the past, you couldn't find anyone from this constituency in some of those lucrative agencies. But go to NIMASA today, go to AMCON today, go to NCC today, and they are there", the Lawmaker mentioned.

Gagdi also announced empowerment funds to the tune of N29,950.00 million in which N10,000.000 million to be shed across 20 electoral wards while N19, 950.00 million for various support groups in Kanam LGA.

Chairman of APC in Plateau, Hon. Rufus Bature assured decampees of party willingness to do justice for all members, saying that the decampees are entitled to all privileges and rights like any other party member.

Professor Saleh Kanam, the Grand patron of Kanam progressive movement (KPM) expressed optimism that APC remains a household name in the council area, revealed APC lost not less than 28 out of 285 polling units across 20 wards of Kanam LGA.

Senator Simon Lalong represented by governorship candidate in 2023 general elections, Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda as well as Senator representing Plateau Central, Diket Plang charged electorates to come out in en-masse on 9th October and votes APC.
