FEDERAL SCHOOL OF MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGY SCIENCE, JOS DONATES 1000 PIECES OF SANITIZERS TO PLSG & 30 BAGS OF RICE, 500 PIECES OF SANITIZERS TO NUPKIS COMMUNITY
Obong Sunday N. Etukudoh, PhD, FWAPCMLS, the Provost and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Schopl of Medical Laboratory Technology (Science) Jos, has presented 1000 pieces of sanitizers each to the Plateau State Government, Edo State Government, office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the Federal Ministry of Health and 500 Pieces of Sanitizers as well as 30 bags of rice to the Nupkis Community, the host community of the college.
The God fearing, humane and peace loving Provost of the institute also gave out 30 bags of rice as a palliative to the Nupkis community, through the village head to cushion the effects of the stay at home order of the FG and Plateau State Governments to fight the COVID-19 pandemic in the globe for distribution to his people.
While presenting the sanitizers to the Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Barr. Dr. Simon Bako Lalong, KSGG and the Chairman of the Northern Governor's Forum, ably presented by Prof. Danladi Abok Atu, the Secretary to the Government of the State (SGS), Obong Etukuduh, the Provost of the College said "it is with a total sense of responsibility amid the present global exigencies as demanded by the Covid 19 Pandemic, that the Management of the Federal School of Medical Laboratory Technology (Science) Jos wishes to complement the efforts of the Government, Corperate bodies and public spirited individuals towards the control of the disease and provision of Palliatives targeted at the reduction of effects on the people."
The Provost and the Chief Executive Officer of the College also commended the tireless efforts and steps taken by the Plateau State Government in safeguarding the lives of Nigerians and ensuring that the disease does not spread through proactive measures, especially the prevention of entry of people from the epicentre of the pandemic, which has curtailed the transportation of the virus into the state.
The Provost/Chief Executive Officer also commended the effort of the establishment of the Presidential Task Force(PTF) of the Federal Government in the establishment of the testing center in NVRI, Vom, which is a testimony of the general advocacy for availability of testing centers, as a key to effective treatment and control of the spread of the virus. He also hinted that the Institution is also working hard to see that their Institution becomes the second COVID-19 testing center on the Plateau.
Obong Etukudoh promised that as a Federal Government professional Training and Research institution, will help in its expertise into the production of protective products that are helpful in preventing the spread of the virus in addition to the Palliatives put in place by the State Government.
The Provost & CEO concluded by advising the FG and the SG to look inward and strongly embark on aggressive agricultural programme that will carry along energetic youths through incentives, finance and provision of lands for cultivation of crops where the state has comparative advantage.
He commended the Presidential Task Force on Covid 19 and the Plateau State Covid 19 Committees thus far.
In his welcome remarks, Prof. Danladi Abok Atu, the SGS, Plateau State and representative of the Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Barr. Dr. Simon Bako Lalong, welcomed the team of the Management staff of the Federal School of Medical Laboratory Technology (Science), Jos for the magnanimity of identifying with the State Government and people of Plateau State by the kind donations of Sanitizers to help fight Covid 19.
The SGS also commended the institution for the donations to the host communities of the institution, the Nupkis community's, where the SGS is from in Jos North LGA of Plateau State; adding that if need arises for the purchase of more Sanitizers, the Institution shall be contacted to produce for the Government.
Atu hinted that the act of kindness shown from the school is in line with the social responsibility of the institution to it's host community and Government.
The Representative of the Plateau State Government on behalf of the Covid 19 Committee requested that the institutions should also speak to the public on the dangers of Covid 19 and the need to maintain hygienic and healthy living aside from social distancing. The SGS also wants the School to advertise and publicize the messages against Covid-19 in the mass media, especially the print and electronic media for public awareness and sensitisation.
